Mom's Handmade Noodles<\/span>, It is located on the first basement floor of a building at the end of Sharosu-gil.
I was planning to have some gukbap at Jeju Sanghoe late in the evening...
It seemed like they closed early, so I looked for another store nearby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you go down the stairs, you will find a hall that is wider than expected, along with
Vintage gold-framed chairs and a chandelier welcome us with an unexpected interior for a neighborhood kalguksu restaurant.
Two fans were spinning here and there, creating a friendly atmosphere like an old-fashioned snack bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The menu features five types of kalguksu.
On my first visit, I usually order what looks like the signature dish.
Today, I had a sudden craving for kimchi kalguksu.
All kalguksu dishes are designed so that you can choose to order either sujebi or kaljebi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Freshly made kimchi is sweet, spicy, and full of umami.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was waiting for the kalguksu, and they gave me complimentary dumplings.
One kimchi dumpling and one meat dumpling made for an excellent appetizer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is packed with bean sprouts and green onions, and the seafood-based broth, including anchovies, has a rich flavor.
I took a spoonful and it was spicy with a really good umami flavor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sujebi had a thick and chewy texture.
The thinly stretched parts and the thickly torn parts are mixed in one bowl.
The inconsistent texture makes it fun to eat throughout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I'm already so full just from the kalguksu, but
It felt like a shame not to mix rice into the savory broth, so I asked for just a little.
The rice is black rice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the end, I mixed rice into the remaining broth to finish it off like scorched rice.
As the rice grains dissolved in the broth where the bean sprouts and green onions had settled, the spiciness became much milder.
My mind feels dazed after starting the meal with a bowl of kalguksu and ending it with a bowl of porridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I finished a very hearty and satisfying meal.
Won't you think of this again on a day when you crave kalguksu?
If you are craving kalguksu near Seoul National University Station or Nakseongdae, I recommend this place.
The owner is very kind, the prices are good, and the rich umami flavor is appealing.
