Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 1, Buyeo Terminal – Buyeo Central Market – Gudrae Ferry Terminal – Busosan Mountain – Buyeo Night Market

The estimated time required is about 2 hours and 10 minutes.
We stopped at Jeongan Albam Rest Area on the way and stopped for 15 minutes.

It is a rest area I stopped by when going to Buan as well; it seems to be a large and famous rest area.

It was a train that arrived at 10:40, but it seems there is a lot of traffic because it is the weekend.

Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 1-1. Buan Central Market & Buan Market (feat. Sunwon Restaurant)

11:35 Arrived at Sunwon Restaurant
I came to Sunwon Restaurant to eat gizzard shad sashimi, which was my original purpose.
In Buyeo, the ung-eo is called Uyeo.
It feels refreshing to see the 2025 Haetwooyeohoe in 2026.

I came alone, but since it's at least a two-person portion, I ate to my heart's content and still had leftovers. What a waste...

12:40 Buyeo Central Market

After finishing a long meal that lasted nearly an hour, I came out to find Buyeo Central Market right next to me.
You can't miss looking around the market when you come to visit.
I plan to take a boat from Gudrae Ferry Terminal after passing through the market and Hanaro Mart.

They were also selling gizzard shad at the Central Market.
They also sell ingredients so you can make raw fish salad. They have fresh squid, too.
If you find it burdensome that restaurants serve portions starting from two people, it might be a good idea to buy food at the central market and eat it at your accommodation.

There were also freshwater clams. It was interesting to see that, being an inland area along a river, the items were quite different from those found by the sea.

I visited a traditional liquor bottle shop and bar called Sadam inside the Central Market.
I originally planned to visit Gaekje Brewery when I went to Buyeo, but I couldn't visit because the weekend was a holiday.

They had a diverse lineup of products, including makgeolli from all over the country, medicinal liquor, and distilled spirits.
There is also Gamdanju from the guest brewery.

It is impressive that the Buyeo liquors are collected in the showcase under the counter.
Since they said they would be open in the evening, I decided to visit again later and left.

There are two markets in Buyeo: one is Buyeo Central Market, which I just visited, and the other is Buyeo Market across the street.
The next destination is Buyeo Market and Hanaro Mart on the way.

Hanaro Mart is a good place to buy various local agricultural and marine products, as well as local alcohol.
It is a place I never skip visiting.

But there was no Buyeo liquor... The alcohol displayed in the supermarket was mostly from other regions of Chungnam.

Buyeo Market is a five-day market held on the 5th and 10th of every month.
I happened to visit on the 25th and was able to look around.

There are crabs, crucian carp, and some unidentified small fish. Are they freshwater fish?

As you enter, you will find a market with tents set up in a wide open space selling various goods.
There is also a market building that looks like it was built quite recently.

I also picked up and ate a fish cake from the market. The cheese fish cake was tastier than I expected.
Unlike fish cakes full of chewy fish meat flavor, it has a soft and moist taste.

The Yeon-i-rang workshop, which makes Buyeo Baekje liquor, was located inside the Youth Mall on the second floor of the market building.
I am curious about what it might taste like. However, it seemed that the workshop was not in operation.

It was around 1:40 PM, but there were no open stores inside the Youth Mall.
It looks like there used to be hot air balloons as well.

Luckily, I happened to visit just as the Baekmagang Moonlight Night Market was starting, so I decided to come back in the evening.

Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 1-2. Gudrae Sculpture Park & Gudrae Ferry Terminal (Yellow Sailboat)

Depart for Gudrae Ferry Terminal at 2:00 PM

Buyeo is situated along the Geum River, and from Gudrae Ferry, you can take a yellow-sailed boat
You can visit Nakwaam, which is said to be the site of a legend where three thousand court ladies fell to their deaths.

It is about a 15-minute walk from Buyeo Market, so I was trudging along.
A cloudless sky... The sun is too hot.
I applied three layers of sunscreen, but my skin feels like it is begging me to kill it.

Gudrae Sculpture Park, located on the way to the ferry landing.
The large open space was landscaped with statues, flowers, and trees.

I had quite a hard time here because there was no shade, but the weather is really nice and the photos are coming out beautifully.

Why are there autumn leaves in spring?… Do they normally bloom?
Anyway, it's pretty. There's a rumor that I go crazy whenever I see red.

There were also many people who could borrow books and spread out mats to enjoy photosynthesis.
It is a space that serves as a resting place for local residents.

What is this? Is it Stonehenge?

When we see something like this, this is the first thing that comes to mind.

If you go right up the stairs in the park, you can see the Geumgang River and a mountain.
The scenery is breathtaking. The name of the mountain over there is Busan.

Gudrae Ferry Terminal, which you reach if you walk straight ahead. I haven't seen a single person since traveling to Buyeo, but it seems everyone was gathered here.
It was the only place in Buyeo where I stood in line.

There are a lot of snowballs.
He says he likes corn.
I like corn too...

The boat from Gudrae to Nakwaam costs 11,000 won round trip and 7,000 won one way.
Children's fare is 7,000 won round trip and 5,000 won one-way.
One way is to get off at Nakwaam, cross over Busosan, and return to Buyeo town.
I bought a one-way ticket because I planned to see Busosan.

This is what a yellow-sailed boat looks like. It also has an interior cabin.

Perhaps because it was a river, it wasn't shaking much and was calm, so I just stood outside as we rode.
It was incredibly hot coming here, but the wind blowing from the river
It felt really good to have the sweat wiped away.

I also saw the boat returning from Goransa Temple to Gudrae Ferry.
I have this feeling that we should put a little captain at the bow of the ship.

What you see up there is Nakwaam, and what you see below is the Goransa pier.
Those who purchased a round-trip ticket come down after visiting Nakwaam and Goransa.
You can take the boat back to Gudrae from here.
Although the boat ride is short, lasting about 15 minutes, you can fully enjoy the scenery of Buyeo at an affordable price.

It is a place I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Buyeo.

Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 1-3. Busosan (feat. Nakwaam and Goransa)

To get off and visit Nakwaam and Goransa, you must purchase a ticket at the Busosanseong ticket office.
2,000 won for adults. Since I had to pass through anyway, I bought it without hesitation.

I heard that the restoration of Goransa Temple was almost complete by the time I visited.
I heard you can drink the spring water at Goransa Temple, but since I had a long way to go, I skipped it and just went up.

Now that I think about it, it feels a bit regrettable. I hope you all stop by Goransa Temple and drink the spring water.
It wasn't completely finished yet, but I was curious to see what it would look like when restored.

I took this photo through the trees on the way further up to Nakwaam. I think I got a pretty good shot, right?

I arrived at Baekhwajeong just as the breath of the weakling, who had not made hiking a part of his daily life, was fading away.
Looking at the time the photo was taken, I realized that I hadn't even walked 10 minutes from the ticket office.
It was a good time to think about the importance of exercise…

Coming out in front of Nakwaam and looking outside, I saw the yellow-sailed boat we had come on.
It is indeed a view worthy of being one of the 10 scenic spots of Buyeo.

After seeing Nakwaam Rock and hiking for another 15 minutes, you will reach Busosan Plaza.
I intended to look around the whole place, but it was much wider than I thought.
I decided to go down to the parking lot from this square.

Since I had climbed in the opposite direction, when I came down, there was an explanation about Busosan Mountain in general at the entrance.
It looks like it will take at least 1 to 2 hours to look around everything at a leisurely pace.

I looked at the comprehensive guide map at the entrance and organized the route I had taken.
It was a course of about 30 minutes, getting off at 3:00 PM and arriving around 3:35 PM.

It was a really clear day without a single cloud.
I also took a picture of the Buyeo Gwanbuk-ri Ruins visible after coming down.

I decided to rest a bit at the accommodation to cool down.

Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 1-4. Buyeo Night Market (feat. Market Fried Chicken & Casual Talk)

This is the famous Buyeo Country Fried Chicken.
It is an old-fashioned fried chicken place, but the batter is uniquely crispy and has a distinctive cracker-like texture.

Whole Chicken - Small (13,000)
With the golden appearance of the chicken, there is no way freshly fried chicken wouldn't taste good.
But the skin is really exceptional. It isn't well-marinated chicken, but it has its own charm and distinctive features.
If you like fried chicken, it is worth a visit.

8:30 PM

After having dinner, I went back to my accommodation to catch my breath and headed out to the night market in time.
Many shops in Buyeo had been closing since around 8 o'clock, but the owners came out here and set up booths at the night market.
I brought the food to the table and was eating it.

The system was to buy alcohol from a supermarket inside a nearby market building and drink it freely.
There are performances on the central stage, and during this night market period, people from all over the neighborhood
It is fun that once you come here, the atmosphere is such that you can meet acquaintances.

9:30 PM

I stopped by the bar at the bottle shop 'Sadam', which I had visited earlier in the day, to wrap up the day.
The boss told me a lot about Buyeo.

I could really feel his affection for Buyeo.

You can bring snacks into the bar and pay a fee of 3,000 won.
You can enjoy various traditional alcoholic beverages by the glass (Makgeolli by the bottle)
If you usually enjoy drinking, I think it would be good to stop by here for a drink.
He spoke with pride, saying that this is the only place that collects all seven types of Buyeo liquor.

There are also photos and a travel book about Buyeo written by the owner.
It would be nice to read it leisurely if you have time.
It seems you are conducting projects, such as youth business initiatives, with the young people gathered in Buyeo.
You recommended a cafe that makes desserts and drinks using local ingredients from Buyeo, so I plan to visit there tomorrow.

Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 2, Jeongneungsa Temple Site – Buyeo Museum – Gungnamji Pond – Baekmagang Theme Park – Buyeo Terminal

Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 2-1, Jeongneungsa Temple Site (feat. Gochammilga)

I plan to rent a bicycle today to finish exploring Buyeo town, which I couldn't see yesterday.
In Buyeo, you can rent electric bicycles for free through the Baekje SsingSsing Buyeo app.

You can rent it for 2 hours at a time, with unlimited usage from 4 PM until the last return at 6 PM.

It is good to note that electric bicycle rental stations and luggage storage facilities are located at three places: Busosan Main Gate, Jeongneungsa Temple Site, and Gungnamji.

There are many shops closed in Buyeo on Sundays.
There were many places I wanted to visit, such as Wang Gomtang and Pyogo Nongbu's Gimbap, so it is a shame.
Gochammilga's soybean noodle soup is also excellent, though it is not a substitute. It is a nutty soup with a savory flavor and just the right consistency, not too sweet.
It comes pre-seasoned. It is perfect with kimchi.

12:10 PM

After parking my bike at the rental shop, I came back
I entered through the back gate of Jeongnimsa Temple Site.
Before seeing the famous five-story stone pagoda at Jeongnimsa Temple Site, the Jeongnimsa Temple Site Museum appeared first.

The interior was totally Cyberpunk Korea... The museum exhibits and explanations were well-organized and fun, utilizing interactive tools. The model of Jeongnimsa Temple Site displayed at a glance was also impressive. The entire exhibition is free.

As you leave the museum and come down, you can see the Stone Pagoda of Jeongnimsa Temple Site. I took a panoramic photo from the main gate.
The site is really spacious, lush, and vast, giving a refreshing feeling.

I didn't have the knowledge to fully understand what kind of significance this great artifact holds, but
As I watched, it seemed fascinating... I looked around the area near the museum until around 1 o'clock.

Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 2-2, Buyeo National Museum (feat. Gilt-bronze Incense Burner of Baekje)

The Buyeo National Museum is only a 5-10 minute bike ride from Jeongnimsa Temple Site.
Interest in Buyeo has increased significantly since the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner of Baekje has been on display since the end of last year.

When I entered right on time, a media art presentation explaining the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner of Baekje was shown.
When watching media art of such a grand scale, I often feel that if the picture quality is overwhelmingly good
I feel like I could get a somewhat overwhelming feeling, but that always seems to be a bit of a letdown.

I also looked around the various exhibition halls.

The main attraction is the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner of Baekje. Even as a layperson, I thought it was an overwhelming and magnificent work of art.
To borrow someone else's expression, they said that there is sufficient reason to visit the National Buyeo Museum just to see this one artifact.

The exhibition hall displayed only this artifact in a single space, much like a 'Room of Contemplation,' but the atmosphere was somewhat different because the artifact was small. It was displayed in a way that the artifact was obscured by people when viewed from a distance.

Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 2-3, Gungnamji Pond

If you travel by bicycle for another 15 minutes or so from the National Buyeo Museum
You can visit Gungnamji, another famous tourist attraction in Buyeo.

Gungnamji is a pond attached to a detached palace of the Baekje Dynasty located south of the city center of Buyeo. It is called 'Gungnamji' based on the record in the Samguk Sagi that a pond was dug south of the palace.

The current Gungnamji Pond was created through restoration work carried out in 1971, and it is estimated that the Gungnamji Pond during the Baekje period was much larger than this.

Various lotus flowers and plants, including lotus, water lilies, tropical water lilies, and aquatic plants, live in Gungnamji.

Poryongjeong, a pavilion located in the center of Gungnamji.
Gungnamji was the prettiest and most memorable place I saw in Buyeo.

Pollen blown by the wind in spring and a vast pond,
I couldn't see the lotus flowers because it didn't coincide with the blooming season, but even that wasn't a problem.

It is said that the Buyeo Seodong Lotus Festival is held here at Gungnamji in early July, the blooming season of the lotus flowers.
I thought that if I get the chance, I would definitely like to visit.

“No, they said not to ride standing up because it’s dangerous here.”

It was a swing big enough to swing on, but standing while riding was prohibited for safety reasons.
It was a hot spot at Gungnamji where everyone lined up to ride it once and take a commemorative photo.

After sitting for quite a while, I turned my back on Gungnamji, leaving behind the sound of laughter from the people swinging on the swings.

Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 2-4, Baekmagang Theme Park Observatory

If you travel about 5 minutes west of Gungnamji by bicycle, you will reach Baekje River Theme Park.
Since I have to take the 4:30 PM train back to Seoul, rather than visiting any other places
I decided to take a leisurely look around the riverside bike path and then board the bus.

Yesterday, when I told the owner at 'Sadam' that I planned to ride around on a bike, he recommended this bike path near Baekmagang.

At the same time, it was also said that you could see Buyeo at a glance from the observation deck of Baekmagang Theme Park.
I was in a predicament because I couldn't go to the Baekjebo Observatory, which I had originally planned to visit, since it was too far.
It would definitely be a shame to visit the neighborhood and not go to the observatory.

It is unclear when it opened, but perhaps because it was a temporary opening, viewing the observation deck was free.

Buyeo is also beautiful when viewed from the observation deck.
If you climb 100 observation decks, 100 different thoughts come to mind, but
I keenly feel my lack of ability to express this.

There is a model of the Gilt-bronze Incense Burner in the center of the observation deck... It looks like a good place to take a commemorative photo.
Now that I've looked around the observation deck, I'm thinking of going down and returning to the terminal.

My phone battery is running low, so before I leave, I plan to visit a cafe called 'Dancheong' that the owner of 'Sadam' recommended.

Buyeo Walking Tour DAY 2-5, Buyeo Terminal (feat. Cafe Dancheong)

I visited Cafe Dancheong near Buyeo Bus Terminal.
The menu items ordered were 'Tofu Shupener' and 'Sedo Cherry Tomato Granita'‘

These are fun menu items made with local ingredients from Buyeo.
I had a great time chatting with young business owners who have settled in Buyeo about traveling there.

Buyeo Bus Terminal before departure. A short but fulfilling 2-day, 1-night trip to Buyeo.
Time was tighter than expected on this visit (though largely because I rested too much after hiking on the first day)
It was a shame that I couldn't visit the Baekje Cultural Complex, where the Lotte Resort is located in Gyuam-myeon.

I should aim for it on my next visit.
